The best way to teach our values is by putting them into practice in real time.
Religious Education Offerings

Rocking Room
Our Rocking Room is located just outside of the Sanctuary, with windows facing into the Sanctuary. The sound system is linked to this room so that parents with infants may still view and hear the Sunday Service.

Sunday Nursery Care
The Nursery is available for children of about 1 year up to 3 years of age every Sunday. Children left in the care of the Nursery should be able to walk. Children move up to the next room at the age of 4, around the time some children begin Preschool.

Pre-K & Kindergarten R.E.
Organized Religious Education begins in Pre-K. Education centers our UU Values of Justice, Equity, Transformation, Pluralism, Interdependence, and Generosity, with the underlying thread of Love tying it all together. Curriculum is typically sourced through the UUA or from other Religious Educators across the nation. While some structure is desired, we are not school, and our focus is on building community. The best way to teach our values is by putting them into practice in real time.

Middle School R.E.
Middle School R.E. covers 6th Grade thru 8th grade, or equivalent ages. We begin a Socratic method of learning with this group. R.E. is facilitated by adults who provide some framework for facilitating conversation based around our values. Sometime curriculum will be utilized, sometimes a service project may be the focus, but the main education goals of this age group is learning to support different opinions and experiences of their peers and learning how to hold space for each other. We practice our values in real time.

High School R.E.
High School R.E. covers 9th Grade thru 12th grade, or equivalent ages. We utilize a Socratic method of learning, emphasizing youth led ministry. R.E. is facilitated by adults who provide some framework for facilitating conversation based around our values. Sometime curriculum will be utilized, sometimes a service project may be the focus, but the main education goals of this age group is exploring what each individual values and how to live those values in their lives.

FCUUPs Kids
The Frederick Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans offers programming for children and youth that center Earth based practices and beliefs. We are an eclectic collection of various Pagan beliefs, but we try to keep our Pagan teachings non-specific to any particular Pagan path, unless otherwise specified for certain classes or rituals. We focus on acceptance and the threads that generally tie us together: our love of the Earth, elements, ancestors, and our UU values that lie at the core of why we exist within the umbrella of Unitarian Universalism.

Coming of Age
The Coming of Age Program is a year long endeavor for youth to work with mentors and explore life's deepest questions and come to better understanding of themselves and their place in community. At the conclusion of their year long study, youth are invited to make a statement of their personal beliefs on a special Sunday, and become full voting members of the Congregation when they become 16 years of age. Our 2024-2025 Group is currently on their journey, and are scheduled to complete in August 2025.

Event Childcare
Official UUCF Groups may request childcare from the DRE for events. Childcare staff are paid from that group's budget. Official UUCF Groups must be led by a Member of the Congregation, and every event must designate a Building Liaison.
